Camp Widjiwagan is a YMCA of the North wilderness camp on Burntside Lake near Ely, on the edge of the Boundary Waters and founded in 1929. Summer programs are wilderness canoeing and backpacking expeditions across North America for teens ages 11–18, progressing to advanced 30–55 day trips, with a mission rooted in environmental education and youth development.

★★★★★MC HansonFirst went as a chaperone for my oldest child’s sixth grade winter camp experience with his classmates in 2008? I’ve gone back, maybe ten times to their women’s retreats and it is a wondrous place. The staff are caring and kind. The food is excellent, lodging is rustic perfection (especially the winds cabins that I’d happily live in forever!) and their mission to serve all kids and provide gear if needed is truly amazing. Widjiwagan is a gem- go if you can, send your kids if you can, donate if you can.
