Camp Treetops is a co-ed overnight (sleepaway) summer camp for children ages 8-14 near Lake Placid in the Adirondacks, run since 1921 as part of the nonprofit North Country School. Campers do daily swim lessons and weekly horseback riding, care for farm animals and gardens, and choose among hiking, sailing, ceramics, weaving, woodshop, art, music, and performing arts, plus frequent day and overnight wilderness trips. It is intentionally screen-free with a child-centered, community focus.

★ToomanypeachesThe camp grounds definitely deserve 5+ stars. They are beautiful, and refreshing. But as a descendent of the founder of this camp and someone that was in need of financial aid at the time, I wasn't granted even a part scholarship for my super year of camp (final year). To be able to go, my parents and I had to ask our family friends (that are alumni of the camp) for money. This was not as upsetting to me because I have met some of my best friends at CTT, who probably wouldn't have been able to go without their scholarship. Though my first 2 years in senior camp were fun, as a child, I was subject to emotional abuse and trauma at my last year at camp. Just a disclaimer: I am not trying to dismiss the MANY amazing and supportive counsellors/staff that work there. What I mean is: the heads of camp plus some counsellors kept me from contacting my therapist, called me a liar/attention-seeker for self-harm, searched and took things from my room without ever informing me, followed me around campus, and kept me from meal times. I am willing to go into more detail about these points if anyone wants to question them. I experienced this first hand and the trauma still effects me to this day.

Unparalleled beauty along with riding, swimming, boating and many more activities. There is a Friends Weekend the last week of August, which is a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends or see the place for the first time.
