I will share this here from memory. In 1961-2 my father William Methven was tasked with buying the Right-of-Way for the pictured power line. West Penn -Allegheny Power from Virginia to West Newton. He moved our family from Kittanning to Greensburg when transferred to HQ Cabin Hill. He was the person that knocked on your door to notify you, negotiate, and pay to cross your property. This section crossed Bessie Fulmers, Bruce (Briz) Lane, and the Pittsburgh Coal and Gas co. (sic) properties. He also made friends and got the family permission to hunt here. When contacted the company was owned by a wealthy childless widow from Philadelphia. She stated she had no idea what her husband had left her and would not sign anything until she saw the property. My Dad picked her up at the airport and gave her a tour. When finished she agreed to the right-of-way and asked what is an old lady to going to do with this land? My Dad replied you could donate it to the BSA. She said draw it up, make it happen, and I will sign it. Little did my Dad forsee two of his great grandsons using this camp in their way to becoming Eagle Scouts.
We had a fun weekend with our scout troops, really great place to go. A lot of room for the kids to spread out and work on their achievements
Perfect place to camp for a bit and an amazing hill for sledding during the Wintertime
Great place for Cub scouts to camp. It really needs marked hiking trails.
