Powered by GoogleVery fun camping experience with our Cub Scout Pack. I was disappointed that the trails were not well maintained. The red trail has a section that was very difficult to get through: lots of down trees, overgrown vegetation including thorns. And missing trail markers were a problem throughout. The bathroom facilities were also lacking and not well maintained; broken tp and paper towels dispensers. They clearly were not regularly cleaned.
We had a great experience. The scouts enjoyed the Fort, a hike, and seeing the camp I enjoyed as a camper and Staff member many years ago. The Ranger took the time to check in with us a few times. This was a new and welcoming experience compared to other camps.
For the needs of our group, Camp Garrison is perfect. The property is easily sectioned off into zones and each has distinct features. The camp was clean and ready for a host of guests.
Great experience camping for the weekend with Troop #44 and attending Cubscout Fall Fest. The cabin was very cool- built to look like a large ship. The indoor plumbing was a plus and the large mess hall made cooking for the troops convenient and easy. The cabin could use some maintenance, there was a leaky skylight that water got in and is causing some of the wood to rot. But overall it is kept fairly clean for a campground.
Very nice camp, only problem is that have walk for a while before you arrive at your site. And yes walk with all your camping gear, so it might take you a few trips.
