Camp Because I Said I Would is a nonprofit 92-acre retreat center in Walhonding run by the 'because I said I would' character movement. It primarily hosts free bereavement retreats for grieving families and resiliency retreats for professionals, and has been launching overnight youth camps for ages 12-17 focused on resiliency and character skills. The wooded property has cabins, trails and a small lake.

We have rented the Main Lodge, the Carriage Houses and Little Rock Lodge. We have a large family and it is nice to have LRL to ourselves and have access to the pond and winery. They have always been accommodating and when there are issues they are very receptive to taking care of the problem. Very easy access to Columbus and within hours of Cleveland, Toledo and Cincinnati.
★★★★★Nathan ShiremanFantastic place. Lots of little extras to make the stay wonderful, from firewood to games and even a record player with some records. The Forest Cabin #2 was secluded and we literally saw no one during our stay. The communication from their team was all through text and they were prompt and courteous. We didn’t have any issues whatsoever. Plus, the wildlife was vibrant. Birds and squirrels doing their thing all day and the firefly activity at night was endearing.
★★★★Terrence OwensHad a great weekend here! We stayed in the Bear Run cabin. It was veryclean, and cozy. Upon entering, it smelled of cedarwood. The view from the back deck was nice. My only problem was we didn't have WiFi as promised. We went to the main lodge to enjoy the live band. We love shareables. We got a flight of different wines varying from sweet to dry. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch! The pulled pork nackos were a treat. But I adore the Black Cherry wine slushy!
★★★★★Dale PolitiWe stayed in one of the Woodland cabins and had a great time. The cabin had 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, wood burning stove and two couches as well as a hot tub on the back porch. You can't get a much better experience than having coffe and Watchung the sun rise in the hot tub on a crisp winter morning. This was our second visit and won't be our last.
★★★★Daniel QuillThis is very nice place to relax. There is little internet reception so it really makes you find something else to do. There are a lot trails to hike. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. Two decent sized bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The cabin was equipped with plenty of wood for burn. Outside there is a big fire pit where we spent a good portion of our time. The downside... we brought our dog and liked to let him outside but we found that every morning other cabin neighbors would allow their dogs to wonder unattended. We did want to allow our out because we did now know what would happen between them. It would be nice if their was a leash restriction to keep dogs from wondering.
