Camp Abbey is a Catholic overnight youth camp north of Lake Pontchartrain in Covington, revived after operating from 1960 to 2006. Summer runs separate boys' and girls' sessions and is an intentionally 'unplugged' experience, blending outdoor adventures, crafts, team sports and faith formation.

Powered by GoogleI went to that camp back in 2017 and 2018 during those summers it was the best experience I had at that camp
I beat everybody in the Basketball tournament. I Won. I led the camp in scoring. We blew everybody out in the entire camp 22-4 across the tounament. Jus better like that lowkey. I am giving it a 5 star instaed of a 6 star because of the lack of basketball talent.
I was a camper and was bullied and roughed up everyday. I cried to go home and was just laughed at by the counselors. I hope the staff has changed because it was really bad in the 90’s
The camp experience itself was okay. I went for multiple years when I was younger. I was bullied by many of the other girls in my cabin. One time they threw a very special memorabilia, one that could not be replaced, into a toilet and taunted me. I tried to grab it but they pushed me back. I then pushed a girl out of the way before I lost it as they went to flush it. I was harshly disciplined and the girls were let off the hook because they "didn't resort to violence". On a separate occasion, I was pushed off of the top bunk of a bed and my knee was dislocated. The girl didn't receive the slightest bit of discipline. I pray that the new camp faculty and counselors have changed since then, many years ago. My prayers go out to all the girls like me that were treated so horribly at a camp meant to spread love.
Wonderful retreat center with what you would expect from retreat facilities. Also the summer camp for kids is an amazing experience for the children. One full week with outdoor play and activities to reconnect your children to the world outside of the four walls of their home.
