Camp 510 is an artist-run art and makers day camp in Berkeley for kids ages 5-11, held at First Presbyterian Church. Campers rotate in small groups through hands-on projects in studio art, tinkering, public art, building, bookbinding, screen printing, clowning, crafts and music, balanced with outdoor time and movement games. An older track (XP Camp, grades 6-8) focuses on two process-oriented projects; camp runs 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with extended care available.

★★★★★Joyce LeeOur 6-year-old incoming 1st grader said this was his favorite summer camp out of all of the ones he attended, including OUSD Town Camp + Swim, Aurora School, and even Piedmont Reading Rainbows (though that was a close second)! He's very creative and enjoys crafting so I think the variety of projects and having dedicated focus time for each, even in the single week he attended, was a lot of fun (he also loved the uno card games and other activities during after care). I was worried that most of the day would be spent outside (requiring ample sunscreen and a hat) but this last summer was hosted at Berkeley's 1st Presbyterian which has indoor classrooms. Overall, it was well-organized, Edward the director was a very gracious host, and we look forward to returning this summer!
★★★★★Bradley FroehleGreat arts and crafts camp, full of creative spirit and energy. I observe the older "counselors in training" actively engaging with the kids. Offers extended day (morning and afternoon), which is key for working parents. Excellent teacher/counselor to camper ratios. The leader, Edward, is well known in the artist community. For example, if you visit the Lawrence Hall of Science you'll see that he's contributed to some of the exhibits there. The arts and crafts projects are quite varied: painting, oragami, sewing, stop motion, puppeteering, etc. Lots of fun!

The camp offers kids educational hands on experiences they cannot find at other camps at a low camper to counselor ratio. 8:1. I felt safe dropping my daughter off each day. Additionally the camp offers a variety of daily healthy snacks direct from local farmers markets.

The kids get to work with a wide array art and tech materials and equipment. The snacks offered are substantial and fun. And on top of that the pricing is extremely fair. Highest recommendations!
