The Buffalo Yacht Club Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that runs the club's boating education programs, including Summer Junior Sailing at 1 Porter Avenue on the Buffalo waterfront. The program offers six different classes for ages 6-17 across eight weeks in July and August, serving up to 50 kids a week; most classes require no prior experience, and the fleet includes eighteen Zim Club Flying Juniors. Classes are grouped by age and goal, from Beginner Prams (6-8) and Adventure Sail (9-14) through Intro to Racing (11-15), Opti Race (9-14) and Race Team (13-17). The Foundation offers scholarships for children 6-18 to take part in its junior and high school sailing programs, and also runs a fall/spring high school sailing program for 7th-12th graders and adult lessons.
