Powered by GoogleAn organization that claims to serve children should always put the children first. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the experience we had. When young people dedicate their time, energy, and heart to something—especially preparing for a big moment—they deserve encouragement, patience, and respect. What they received instead was dismissive behavior, rude interactions, and a lack of empathy from staff who seemed more focused on the show running smoothly than on the children participating in it. Children are not props in a production. They are individuals with feelings, confidence that is still growing, and voices that deserve to be heard. Moments like these should build them up, teach them resilience, and remind them that their effort matters. Instead, some were left feeling discouraged and overlooked. Organizations that work with youth have a responsibility that goes beyond putting on a good show. They are shaping how young people see themselves and the world around them. Compassion, encouragement, and respect should never be optional—they should be the foundation. I pray things shift for this organization, their roots may be solid but the branches are weak.
Wow! After reading these reviews I was completely shocked at what I was reading. I couldn't believe that Tyrone Brown a person I know for years was allowing his staffer to yell at other people children who join his band. To read that Tyrone was also doing this himself to the kids shocked me more!! For me to be getting emails and text messages from former members of the band and the dance crew truly bothered me because I couldn't believe this was happening to them by someone I known for years staffers as well by him!! I truly believe that BU was helping the community and given the children a chance to learn a new talent and shine as they progress being in BU.🤔 I don't down anymore business but if what I am being told through emails and text messages to me I will not support any bullying on children who are joining BU or was a former members of BU by a staff member or even the founder himself because these are other people children who trust their kids with you.(BU) Will keep you updated!
Brooklyn United is a great program to get your kids involved with. The program gives them opportunities to develop skills, grow and travel. It’s also family oriented so you know there is someone always looking out for your child. My son started with the program 2 years ago. I saw them perform and was interested. So when i found out the program was coming to his school I signed him up not truly knowing how far he’d go. But he’s grown so much that the kids he used to watch drum he’s now drumming with them! So as long as he’s happy I’m happy and BU will always be FAMILY!
I would recommend Brooklyn United Music and Arts program to any parent looking for a community to help strengthen and encourage their young person. Here they learn an instrument, dance, karate, basketball and so much more! My daughter has been in the dance program for two years and will graduate out this year. She has always been a determined young lady and a natural helper and this program has helped push her into being a stronger leader and learning what it is to give back. Brooklyn United instills pride in yourself and to show you should want the same for others. Brooklyn United welcomes everyone and you really feel that you belong to a better community. We love it here and encourage everyone to give it a try.
My son has been going here for few months now. I love the program, and his confidence has grown so much since starting. He enjoys it and looks forward to going. I will definitely keep him in the program and continue to support him. They give most of the money and proceeds they make to the children in the program for scholarships. They reward the children who work hard! I am so glad I found Brooklyn united Music & Arts Program!
