My family loves the Y. Lots of great equipment and programming for the whole family. We use the outdoor pool a lot - it is heated and has some great staff and wonderful programming.

Our first visit to the Blue Ash YMCA was vary disappointing! We became members last summer. My autistic son’s services Care Coordinator recommended we get a pass for my son to stay active and to enjoy our summers. We joined late last summer. I was told we get a tour of the building, and told about everything that they offered. That never happened. It was almost a week after we had been going to the Blue Ash YMCA last year, after we had gotten into the pool that I was told my son had to take a “skills test”. That was the first time we were told anything about it. My son struggled to pass the test for the simple reason that he was not used to being able to touch the bottom of a swimming pool! He took swimming lessons as Bear Paddle where he was never able to touch the bottom On the pool! He had made it all the way to learning the Butterfly Swim stroke that he decided these lessons were taking the fun out of swimming! Needless to say now the Blue Ash YMCA has made my autistic son feel like a failure because the failed him for putting his feet on the bottom of the pool floor. We were told he, “had to build his skills before he could retest!”. So we went out to the deeper waters where he COULD actually practice swimming where he couldn’t touch, when we told he can’t be in that part of the pool. We left, and I told the the staff at the outdoor pool that we would not be back.

I’ve been taking this class for over two years now, and it’s hard to put into words how much it has impacted my life. The class is always upbeat, fun, and full of great energy, but what really sets it apart is the instructor. You can tell she genuinely cares about every single person who walks through the door. She pays attention, she encourages you, and she creates an environment where you actually want to show up and push yourself. When I first started, I was dealing with potential heart issues and barely felt confident working out at all. Her class changed that. It gave me the motivation and confidence to take control of my health. Now I’m not only doing her class consistently, but I’m also working out on my own something I never thought I’d be able to say. This class didn’t just help me get stronger; it sparked a real desire to live a healthier life. I’m incredibly grateful for her and for the community she’s built.

Basketball, inside and outside swimming, workout room; all in the name of improving individuals, the youth and the community at large! Let’s support each other, let’s support our neighbors, let’s improve ourselves, let’s mission accomplish at the YMCA.

Derrick would never. I am deeply disappointed with the current state of our athletic department, largely due to the poor leadership and lack of organizational skills demonstrated by the athletic director. Communication is inconsistent, schedules are often last-minute or incorrect, and there appears to be no clear system in place for managing teams, events, or resources efficiently. This kind of disorganization negatively affects both student-athletes and coaching staff, making it difficult to plan and prepare adequately. In particular, the alignment of the soccer teams is completely unbalanced, which reflects a lack of thoughtful oversight and understanding of player abilities. Some teams are overloaded with experienced players while others are struggling to stay competitive, leading to a frustrating and discouraging environment for athletes. These imbalances could have been easily addressed with proper evaluations and more attention to team formation. Overall, it's clear that a significant change is needed in the leadership of the athletic department to restore fairness, structure, and faith in the ymca sports department. Hopefully sooner than later, blue ash ymca can return to the stellar program it use to have.
