Nonprofit community music school founded in 1940, on a historic campus at 30 Wendell Avenue in downtown Pittsfield. Its 2026 summer lineup includes a week-long Summer Art & Music Studio for ages 5-10 (July 13-17, 9:30am-3:30pm) run jointly with Berkshire Art Center, combining music-inspired art projects with group music-making, and a week-long Musical Theater program for ages 8-16 (August 24-28, 8:30am-3:00pm with a 5:00pm option). A two-day performance intensive is offered for ages 16 and up. The school publishes a financial aid policy.

After a minor incident involving tapping a car with no visible damage, the situation was escalated unnecessarily and the police were called. The way I was treated felt blatantly discriminatory and deeply disrespectful to me, and I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. I believe the situation could have been handled calmly and respectfully instead of being blown out of proportion. Based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending this environment to others.
