Powered by GoogleThe facility is nice and clean but the new management is totally out of sync with the Y’s value. They are now more focused on squeezing money out of members rather than providing community oriented services the Y is known for. Increasing membership fees, changing for no-show / missed attendance, reduce court time to allow for private rentals, charging for InBody scanning and pushing for private, paid training sessions and the list goes on. This is not a private gym!
good luck if you plan on playing basketball here on weekdays, and possibly weekends. STOP RENTING OUT THE GYM TO 5 HOUR LONG PRACTICE SESSIONS. WE PAID FOR THE DAMN GYM AS A PART OF THE MEMBERSHIP. dont even get me started on pickleball. 100 kids want to play basketball vs 10 elderly couples and they get the priority????????? for HOURS???? equipment isnt anything special, rather matrix machines are quite uncomfortable. Staff is lovely though.
The Berkeley Heights YMCA is great. I’m very comfortable there. Staff is very friendly and the facility is immaculate. It’s not overwhelming like other places. The fact that everything is only a few years old is icing on the cake.
This YMCA is a nice facility, and the staff are friendly, but I’m disappointed by their policy. If you come from another YMCA, they let you use the gym machines but don’t allow you to join any classes, and they limit you to only 4 visits. That’s not really the spirit of the YMCA as I’ve always known it — a Christian organization that values community, family, and inclusion. I also have a Nationwide membership, but that doesn’t seem to matter here.
The Berkeley Heights YMCA (Summit Area YMCA) is a wonderful facility! The building is very clean and well-maintained. There is a large basketball court, which is a big plus. I was especially impressed with the teen zone – it’s a great space for teenagers to hang out and spend time. There’s also a nice kids’ area with toys and building sets, which makes it very family-friendly. The locker rooms are spacious with plenty of showers and lockers, so there’s always enough room for everyone. A great place for the whole community!
