Powered by GoogleGood facility for the gym but horrible for personal training - everything has to go through 1 specific director who then ask you to contact a personal trainer - who then asks you to book on their app which has lots of issues and only a few timings for weekends and after work. Took me 3 months to go through these hoops, was calling the number given but wasn’t getting a response. Finally met with him and he told me to go back and forth with him through email to set something up since his phone wasn’t working. I canceled my sessions and will be joining another gym- they were very nice and apologetic for the issues with the app. the delayed emails and contact issues but I don’t expect this level of difficulty when I am shelling out hundreds on personal training and I don’t have the time to jump through these hoops.
I grew up going to the YMCA. So many great memories from swimming to hot tubbing, dry sauna.... To the teen room where there was foosball and ping pong. It was the place I would hangout at everyday after school. And of course the basketball ball court and the weight room. There was also a separate bike room where they had spin classes. This is a video of me back in my younger days over 20 years ago repping 225lbs on the bench press for 35 reps. Everyone was very friendly there, especially in the weight room. You could literally ask a random stranger for a spot.
I had a really unpleasant experience at the Bellevue YMCA that I think others should be aware of. I was playing basketball in the main gym and left my wallet in my hoodie pocket on the side. During the game, someone stole it. I’m certain it happened there because almost immediately after I realized it was missing, I saw an Uber charge appear on my credit card. What disappointed me even more was how the situation was handled by the staff. When I reported it to the front desk, they didn’t seem surprised at all and mentioned that similar incidents had happened before, even in the locker rooms. The way it was communicated made it feel like it was my responsibility to be more careful, rather than them taking the issue seriously. They said they would check the cameras and had a supervisor follow up, but later told me they didn’t see anything and asked me to wait for the police. The overall response felt dismissive, like they didn’t really want to deal with the situation. I understand this is an older facility and people often complain about cleanliness or equipment, which I personally don’t care too much about. But safety and professionalism are much more important. This experience was really disappointing, and I hope the management invests more in staff training and takes member safety more seriously.
I love the facilities and we love the classes there . My ONLY and biggest complaint with them is that they can never be reached by phone ..my child fell sick and we wanted to call and cancel a private swim lesson that we had scheduled. But no matter how many times we called NO ONE picked up!! We finally had to go in person and cancel the lesson. What’s the point of having phones at the reception then if you’re not going to use them???
I just love the community vibes of this place. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and genuinely invested in the people who come through the doors. The location is fantastic—easy to get to and designed to serve familes. Programs feel thoughtful and inclusive, and it truly feels like a place where community involvement isn’t just a slogan but something lived every day. The maintainable of the facilities can be improved (the pool and jacozy have almost a monthly issues) -- so for people who are about that, maybe consider alternatives.
