Bayfront Maritime Center is a non-profit maritime-education organization on Erie's bayfront offering week-long summer sailing courses for teens, with three-hour daily sessions running June through August that blend classroom basics (knots, terminology, safety) with hands-on sailing. Beyond sailing, its project-based programs include boat-building, rowing, paddling, STEM learning, and the long-running EASE adaptive sailing program for people with disabilities. Sessions are low-cost ($70), and completing a course includes a free month of community boating.

While the BMC is closed right now due to the clovis 19 virus, work is still going on with Porcupine. Boat building videos have also been developed for the students. The BMC is definitely an asset to the maritime history of Erie.
