We have had the opportunity to try every dance school in Asheville based on our location and have honestly had a positive experience with most classes. But the Ballet Conservatory is just a solid step above the rest. Not only is the ballet instruction at the Ballet Conservatory top notch, but Angie and Chris truly care about their students as individuals and help them grow in skill and confidence. The ballet training is intense but somehow more fun than my girls experienced in other classes. They also love the fun tap choreography with Ms. Tina. As a parent, I struggle with the constant push to specialize children in activities too young. Many activities make children into a focused business venture and appear to put that above the children. The way Angie and Chris run their studio is just different. They focus on dance instruction and keep costumes simple and affordable for both the recital and the Nutcracker. They allow all of their students to participate in the Nutcracker from a young age and the performance is just incredible. When my daughter had a significant foot injury at the start of the summer intensive season, they not only allowed us to credit the cost to future lessons and training but were genuinely concerned about her healing before pushing too hard to get back in class. It was clear their focus was not the financial impact on their business but truly concern for my daughter's dance career and body and they offered a generous and fair financial option for us as we navigated her injury. Chris called me the night before Halloween when my daughter left part of her costume from class to be sure she wasn't disappointed trick or treating. If you are looking for a wonderful place to learn ballet with a caring and nurturing environment, I cannot recommend the Ballet Conservatory of Asheville highly enough.

It was very refreshing to enroll her in a school that teaches technique rather than routines for competition. The Pre-Professional program is very impressive, and the whole staff is very professional and extremely knowledged in the art of dance and how to teach--and the background that each person has in dance enhances the experience. The Ballet Conservatory has reasonable rates, and that certainly helped in the transition from the previous dance school. We are very pleased with this dance school and with the instructors, the Ballet Conservatory of Asheville is highly recommended!
