My son started taking piano lessons at Ballantyne School of Music (before it changed names) in 2011 when he was almost 10. He had been taking piano lesson since the age of 5 and was becoming bored and wanted to quit. We felt he had a talent for music and wanted to continue nurturing it. He had developed an interest in Rock music, so we searched for a studio that would teach lessons with this style of music to rekindle his interest. He loved it from the very beginning and immediately enrolled in summer Jam Camp, and the Fall Jam Session. Soon after, he also started taking lessons at BSOM in guitar and bass guitar. All of his instructors there were excellent. They were encouraging, caring, and wonderful mentors. My son continued lessons and jam sessions there through high school graduation in 2020. The opportunity to perform in a band in local venues was an amazing experience that was invaluable. Music brought him comfort, confidence, and great friendships. Connie has always been supportive, approachable and accommodating. She provided the band with outside opportunities to perform in local festivals and other local venues. Not only is she supportive of her students, but she is a great supporter of local music. I cannot say enough good things about BSOM, Connie, the instructors, and the experience they provide.

Ballantyne School of Music is a rare find. Our 11-year-old daughter, a singer and guitarist, had always done solo work — until we found BSM and met Connie Cooper. Connie and her incredible team introduced her to band performance, and it’s been a game-changer. Our daughter has already played at places like Amos’ Southend and the Visulite Theatre — experiences most kids her age simply don’t get. Ballantyne School of Music is truly exceptional! Connie Cooper, the founder and owner, along with Eric, Madison, and the entire team of instructors, are simply fantastic. My son Aidan started there first—taking lessons and joining bands with Madison and Eric—and now music is one of his greatest passions. Honestly, he could be a professional musician if he chose to be.
