I can't say enough good things about our experience on the BOYS side of the club. Wonderful trainers year after year. I have almost nothing nice to say about our experience on the GIRLS side of the club. Lots and lots of questionable decisions, trainers, and rules. A few small examples...(1) My daughter, who doesn't drive, was 5 minutes late for a practice due to traffic IN THE CLUB’S PARKING LOT. They made her sit out the entire 1st half of the next game. Two games later, the coach was late to the GAME. If you're going to hold the girls to a standard, you should be able to keep to it yourself as the coach. (2) One coach required the teenage girls to come to the games in their practice jersey. Then he would have them change shirts on the field into whichever jersey he decided at the time. GIRLS changing ON THE FIELD. What?? (3) Tryouts are just a formality. The teams are pre-determined before you arrive, based on who they already know, who attended every OPTIONAL pre-tryout workout, and favoritism. (4) The coaches outright told my daughter to quit all other activities and focus on soccer only. She was told not to do school sports and to skip church whenever necessary. (5) Constant fees and coaches per diem throughout the season, and not just for tournaments. This never happened on the boys side. Additional fees and coach per diem on the boys side were only for pre and post season tournaments. I could go on, but the point is that there’s a lot of work to be done at the club, especially on the girls side of things.

This organization has been accountable for making improvements within and is showing a genuine focus towards the development of the kids.

Very unorganized in the administration. We paid for academy level soccer and had no coach for the fall. Waste of money.

Great staff out there in Athens United soccer club! They host a fun kick off of the fall season tournament! My hats go off to the staff!! They had a great response and communication during bad weather, and acted quickly to come up with resolutions during the tournament, and most of all loved, and how they kept our youth safe during those conditions! Lloyd and his staff are amazing! They have a Great youth soccer development program in Athens GA! Check them out!

We played the Development League (beginners) have great experiences with coaches and parents - it is a good group. But be prepared for major disorganization. The Development League is not a priority for United and it is very disorganized. Last fall they missed several registrations, we had to email to see why were weren't put on a team. That season we also did not get uniforms until the last game of the season. Last spring we all got uniforms but 2 of the 5 teams had the same green color uniform. This fall I have emailed several times with questions and have not heard back.
