Ascension St. Vincent YMCA
Private
The Ascension St. Vincent YMCA is the downtown Evansville branch of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, at 516 Court Street. Its Summer Day Camp gives children a mix of games and sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures and science and technology activities, framed around the Y's stated Christian values; the current season is built on a space theme with rocket building, star mapping and hands-on experiments. Camp is registered by the week, YMCA members receive member rates and early access to registration, and changes to weeks of care are accepted until an April deadline so the Y can manage its wait list. The same association also operates the overnight YMCA Camp Carson in Princeton.

Powered by GoogleGreat experience here! I was traveling from out of state with a buddy and quickly just needed to freshen up and take a shower. The kind staff in the front allowed us to get a day pass and we were able to take a shower. Although not the most ideal use case scenario to come here, I just wanted to leave this review for people to recognize the amazing staff at this facility!
What an extraordinary facility! Been a long time YMCA member just passing through Evansville. Extensive range of services, classes, a large pool, childcare and much more with the affiliation with Ascension St Vincent. The Y also has assistance programs for financially challenged families. Please consider the possibilities if you or your family are considering ways to improve health, your family connections and your community. I can not find the words to express my gratitude for what the Y does for so many. Good health and prosperity to you!!
Lots of positives but the Sunday hours are brutal for those of us who work long hours M-F and need to be flexible with weekend scheduling. Even a 10am open would make a huge difference.
I was a member at this YMCA location for one year. While the facilities at the two main Evansville locations are pretty good, and I never felt like it was overcrowded, I was dissatisfied with communication options. I signed up for personal training sessions, and purchased the largest package. I was not told of an expiration date even though I asked questions. I found out after the fact that these expire after 6 months. I would have purchased fewer sessions to do a trial run if I had known that I might lose money. Additionally, I submitted for a reimbursement and received no communication about it for a month. I had to reach back out to them about why I had not received my reimbursement. They reached out via email to tell me that my sessions had expired and were not eligible for refund (less than a year form purchase date). This was news to me, and they didn't have the courtesy to call me to discuss it without my nudging again. I do not foresee going back to them again. If you just want to go to the gym, they have good facilities for more cost than other gyms. If you want any special services or classes, I recommend looking elsewhere.
This place is wonderful. It's HUGE. Pool, hot tub, steam room, indoor tracks, extensive collection of cardio and strength training equipment, boxing studio, basketball courts, tennis/pickle ball (what?!), tons of classes, lots of well-designed areas for children and teens....even the locker rooms are awesome. Friendly and helpful staff here as well. Matt in particular is my hero. He might be president someday. A real one, not just some media nightmare. I love this place.
