Museum-run day camp where children ages 7 to 12 explore art, science and technology through hands-on S.T.E.A.M. activities, planetarium shows and gallery tours led by trained museum educators. Each camp is a three-day Tuesday-Thursday session running 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the museum's Discovery Center, Art Lab and CoLab, with rotating themes such as Bird Camp, Arctic Engineering, Robotics and Start-to-Art. Each program costs $225 per child, or $202.50 with a museum member discount, and is booked individually through the museum's online ticketing portal.

★★★★★jessica almazanAmazing experience with the museum. It is actually quite large. I love that it also had some interactive activities both for children and adults. They have 3 floors for this museum. They also offered free guided tours for sections within the museum. I thoroughly enjoyed that especially as a solo traveler. One thing I loved was once you buy your ticket. You are welcome to come and go for the day until closing. Let's not forget they have some love animals such as starfish (petting area, may be closed), snapping turtle and sea anemone. Tickets are only $25 but if you want to save $5 go on the app GetYourGuide. Tickets were $20 there.
★★★★★JoyWow, this place is huge! With 4 floors and 2 wings, there’s just so many things to see. The galleries are beautiful, and the exhibitions informative. I love how interactive components are incorporated throughout the museum. There were touchscreen tablets that explained artifacts from Native tribes in detail, corroborated with archival images and elder discussions. The planetarium was awesome and had many hands-on simulations. We got to see Chomper the snapping turtle as well, and that was a highlight. Overall, I think the Anchorage museum is a great place for families to explore and very worth the ticket price.

Restrooms are available on each floor, though not always easy to find. With a day pass, visitors can leave and return throughout the day, so it’s best to arrive early. One concern was the presence of unhoused individuals near the entrance. Some were shouting at visitors, which created a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. This is likely due to a nearby shelter, but it does not reflect on the museum itself. Anchorage still feels generally safe. For first-time visitors, this museum is a great starting point to learn about the local culture. It is also conveniently located near shopping centers and souvenir stores.
