Powered by GoogleOur daughters had been with Allstars United Youth Soccer Club but already moved to other youth soccer clubs. Allstars is primarily suited for recreational youth soccer. They have lost their best players to Bay Area Surf or other nearby clubs in recent years. Consequently, the teams are generally aiming to compete at the Silver/Bronze level each year. The club hosts quite a few tournaments annually, but these events are mostly for lower-level teams. They often struggled to get enough sign-ups, sometimes resorting to offering free spots to participating teams. The Technical Director has been with the club for years. Our experience suggested that he appears to care significantly about maintaining his authority and enjoys being admired by parents—perhaps more than creating a truly great environment for player development. If you looks at their tag line, it is "failed fast, learn quickly", still, the "failed fast" go first. SMH Personally I feel Bay Area Surf or LGU (Los Gatos United) nearby or event Sporting or MVLA (not as close) are better choice if you want to have a great environment to develop your children's soccer skills.
2 of my daughters have been playing for the club and our experience has been top tier. We have been with the club 2 years now, and the girls played recreation for a season and transitioned into the competitive program. The coaching staff is amazing. Any decent coach can teach skills, but the culture and community is what really sets our club apart. Our girls are taught to enjoy soccer, they learn how to put in the work, and most importantly how to play aggressively without malice. My eldest children are now 25 and 22, and I’ve been witness to a broad spectrum of styles of coaching. IMO Allstars Coach/Director Andrew, Coach Nathan, Coach KP, Coach Ari and every one are awesome people. They all are engaged with the kids and are able to motivate and inspire them to do their best. The last thing I want to note is they prepare our kids to win no matter what. At these younger ages the score is not the most important thing, it’s about playing your best (as a teammate) and leaving it all out of the field. It’s about being responsible and accountable for showing up at practice and putting in the work. Allstars is about getting better, so they make sure that every player gets their time on the field during games. When a higher tier player is a “guest” on a lower tier team they know they are subs, so they are expected to play out or position as not to give us an unfair advantage. This allows the opposing team a fair matchup so the games can be competitive and the players have a better opportunity to improve. This philosophy of fair play is IMO one of the greatest gifts our kids are getting from Allstars… win or lose our kids play with grit, joy, and resilience. There may come a time when some of these children become adults and go pro… until then I truly believe Allstars kids will be best prepared for what comes later in their lives. For now… let them play with joy!
We're so glad to have joined this club last spring. All the coaches make the effort to know the names of all the kids across the age groups. Our experience has been nothing but amazing with our children's coaches throughout the seasons. The 2012 boys' coach has always been available to work with our son before and after practice sessions. The extra time and direction he's given our son have made a huge difference in his development and we all could not believe the progress he's made. We have also been very impressed with the girls' program. Our daughter plays for one of the younger teams and they have been highly competitive. Her growth and strength have improved so much this past year. We have also been pleased with the additional training they offer such as finishing sessions, speed agility, and quickness training as well as free scrimmages during the summer. All in all, this has been a wonderful experience for our children and us as parents.
We moved to the Los Gatos area from South Africa 18 months ago and immediately looked for a soccer club for our two boys (2012 and 2014). We evaluated all the local options and chose Allstars United for many reasons but primarily because of how we were welcomed and our boys were made to feel included from day one. Since joining the club, both my boys have significantly improved their skills, understanding of the game and fitness, which is all down to the quality of coaching they have received. Marcus (2012) and KP (2014) have done an amazing job making sure that the boys feel motivated and excited about their soccer. I’ve particularly appreciated the depth and quality of feedback we’ve received about the areas for development that we need to focus on. The club prioritizes fun, teamwork, inclusion and wants to develop a competitive spirit. There is a strong emphasis on learning from losses and celebrating winning. The greatest measure of whether we chose the right club is that we only hear positive feedback from our boys about practice and games. We’re very happy to be members of Allstars United family and can’t recommend the club highly enough.
We have been with Allstars United for two years and it was the best decision we have made. The club has the right balance of fun/competitiveness for the age group. The facilities are excellent, and the coaches and how they deal with the kids is exceptional. Our son has developed his skills, game awareness and more importantly is having a great time.
