Youth Code Jam is a San Antonio nonprofit that runs coding camps, after-school clubs and free community events for K-12 students, roughly ages 7-17. Founded in 2012 after its founder could not find an affordable coding camp for her own son, the organization builds programs specifically for learners who are underserved in computer science: low-income students, girls and gender-minority students, students of color, and neurodiverse learners. Several programs are free, and partial or full scholarships are available for those who qualify. Its Low Sensory Community Jams let neurodiverse kids, teens and their families code at their own pace in a low-sensory environment, and the organization partners with schools and groups across Bexar County.
