YMCA Portage Branch
Private
The Portage branch of the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo hosts several licensed full-day summer camps: PreK camps for ages 3-5 at the Portage Community Education Center, Explorers for ages 6-9 (entering grades 1-4) at Moorsbridge Elementary, and Y on the Road for ages 10-13, a mobile camp of field trips and community outreach around Kalamazoo County. Full-day camps run Monday through Friday with drop-off from 7 a.m. and pickup by 6 p.m. at $210 per week for members and $225 for non-members; weeks include games, outdoor activities, art projects, STEAM learning, quiet reading time and swimming. The branch also runs a half-day Portage Mini Sports Camp for ages 5-10. All full-day camps meet State of Michigan licensing requirements, and staff are background-checked and certified in First Aid and CPR.

Powered by GoogleBig, clean and poorly located. Weight rooms and strength rooms feel cramped. The layout feels weird and I prefer the Maple Street location. Walked in, saw everything, left within 4 minutes and drove back to Maple.
My wife and I have been coming here for a little over a year. We pay about 100 per month for a membership. We love prioritizing our health and supporting the mission of the ymca. However, it’s so beyond aggravating that they haven’t updated their equipment. Equipment that rattles or makes loud screeching sounds? Seriously? What is my membership going towards? Insane. Might consider another gym alternative. Very disappointing.
Our family has been going to the Portage Y for almost four years now. The staff is great and the programs are fantastic. Being a large family and having something for everyone was key, the Y made it super easy. We always looking forward to our time at the Y. We recommend it to everyone we can, looking forward a family friendly place with lots to do.
Absolutely love this place. We moved and unfortunately can no longer attend. Great classes and great childcare, friendly staff. Very sad we are too far away now :(
Everyone is pleasant here, equipment is clean and childcare room is amazing! My little guy does so well with the caretakers. My only gripe is there is no lat pull down, seated pull or stair master
