The YMCA of Southern West Virginia in Beckley runs a long-standing summer day camp along with soccer, basketball and volleyball camps. Days are filled with physical activity, STEM projects, a 4-H agricultural project and weekly field trips to spots like the Beckley Art Center and the West Virginia State Museum. More than 150 area kids attend, and off-campus field trips are included.

★★★★T. Mercedes FordeCute YMCA the pool area was different then what we expected. It was still enjoyable. With only the one pool we thought it would be could. The water was not cold it was a nice temperature. Change rooms are clean. Parking was confusing we didn't see where to park. Staff are friendly.
★Amy HarrahI stopped in this facility to inquire about membership and no one knew anything and could not help me. There is literally no parking unless you want to pay. Crazy since this is a large gym. Also they don't allow guests for members and I could not even buy a day pass to use the gym. The people I talked to knew enough to turn me away. Plus the neighborhood seemed to be the bad part of town and didn't seem the safest.I most likely will not be returning.
★★Dream CatcherThis is the only YMCA that I've visited that didn't have on site parking. There was a parking lot across the street which required parking permit. They're was another parking behind the building that requires monthly permit. I initially parked at one of the parking spaces on site. However, when I asked at the front desk, they said i couldn't park there!? She said i could park behind the building. Wren i told her that parking required monthly permit, she said it was okay. People were also parking at the parking across the street where you needed parking permit. I thought that was crazy. This is also the only YMCA that I visited that didn't have hot water for shower. The shower curtains were also too short for the booth. The locker doesn't have any division. So, if you are using the pool, your clothes would be touching your shoes.
★★★★★Leslie LuI just go there for the evening kayak roll sessions, so all I've seen is the pool and the locker room. The pool is great. It's a full Olympic sized six lane pool and the life guards who are cool enough to stick around and keep an eye on us are wonderful. The locker room is a bit old school, but it's clean and speaking of clean, I've crossed paths with some of the cleaning staff there (at least I think they're the cleaning staff). They are the nicest people and they do a great job keeping the places I've been in tidy and fresh.
