This review is for WOGA Plano and specifically the Saturday 10:00 a.m. beginner class with Coach Ashley. As a minority mother of a neurodivergent child with ADHD, I left absolutely heartbroken by how my 7-year-old daughter was treated. Throughout the class, Coach Ashley repeatedly yelled at, corrected, and singled her out in a way that felt drastically different from the treatment of the other children. The final straw was when my daughter was denied a turn on the trampoline while the other children participated. She left class in tears. When I attempted to speak with Coach Ashley afterward, she refused to engage and walked past me. When I brought my concerns to management, I was interrupted before I could finish explaining what happened. There was no apology, no concern for a crying child, and no accountability. The only response was, "I'll change her class." What made this even more upsetting is that this was not the first concerning interaction I have witnessed at WOGA Plano. I have personally observed management speaking harshly and publicly reprimanding other minority children in a way that made me uncomfortable. I cannot tell anyone what was in Coach Ashley's heart, but I can tell you how it felt to watch my daughter be singled out, excluded, humiliated, and reduced to tears while other children were not. As her mother, the experience felt racist, discriminatory, and cruel. WOGA Plano may have a strong reputation, but no reputation excuses making a little girl feel unwanted and unwelcome. I do not recommend WOGA Plano, especially for minority families or families with neurodivergent children. My daughter deserved patience, kindness, and encouragement. Instead, she left asking why her coach was so mean to her.

We signed up our 6-year-old for recreational gymnastics after transferring from the Frisco Woga location due to scheduling conflicts. After observing the Plano class, I was very disappointed with the experience. The group had 11 kids with only 1 coach, which is much higher than typical gymnastics classes. Although the coach was the same as before, the quality of instruction was very different. My child has been in the program for a month, and I noticed that: In Woga Frisco, the intermediate group was already working on skills like back handsprings on floor and back hip circles on bars. In Plano, there was no attempt to introduce or practice these skills, making the level feel more like a beginner class. On vault, my daughter was performing incorrectly, and no corrections were given. In Frisco, the coach (Mila) actively corrected all kids’ technique (e.g., proper jump position). During handstands, basic form (arms by ears) was not corrected for any students. The overall impression is that the program quality is very inconsistent between locations. Now I understand why Plano has more availability while Frisco has a waitlist. Management experience was also disappointing: In Frisco, staff and coaches are friendly, proactive, and come out to answer your questions directly. In Plano, staff did not engage. When I asked why there were so many kids per coach, I was told to “submit a notice if you don’t like it.” As a parent paying for a recreational class—which is a primary revenue source for gyms—I expect a consistent level of instruction, proper supervision for safety, and respectful customer service. At this Plano location, the class felt more like an expensive open gym with minimal coaching and poor communication. I would not recommend the recreational program at this location. It may be different for team programs, but for families looking for a fun and instructional class, this was not a good experience. When incorrect technique is not corrected, it creates unnecessary risk for injuries. I also noticed that another review mentioned the need for new management for recreational classes, and based on my experience, I agree. They need to limit the number of kids per class, including during make-up sessions after holidays. There appears to be no cap—both today and three weeks ago there were more than 10 kids in the class, and this has now happened twice within less than a month. The explanation given about a male instructor was unclear and did not reflect the actual situation, since the regular instructor was teaching and present. It appeared the class was simply overfilled with make-up students. With 11 kids in one group, it is impossible for a coach to provide proper corrections. The class ends up feeling like an expensive hour with little real coaching. At the same time, there were two classes (beginner and intermediate), each with its assigned coach, and both coaches were present during both observations. This clearly indicates there was no staffing issue. The problem appears to be how make-up classes are managed, leading to overfilled groups and lack of class size control, which directly impacts instruction quality and safety. The manager also stated there is no limit on class size, which is highly unusual and negatively affects safety and instruction. They should set a class size cap and manage make-up students so classes match what is advertised (around 8 students). In the current state, recreational classes feel overcrowded, and it may be better to go to a smaller gym where kids actually receive instruction and corrections. Many team athletes seem to come from other gyms and may not have progressed through this recreational program, which raises concerns about its effectiveness.

I had a birthday party over the weekend. I would give it a negative 5 if there were an option. Heat: The gym was very hot, making it uncomfortable for everyone. Staffing: There were only two staff members handling everything— registration, party setup, cleanup, and coaching the kids during playtime. This resulted in a chaotic experience. Lost Tablecloth: I accidentally left behind my premium linen tablecloth, which was used for the cake and dessert display table. I have had it for many memorable events (wedding, baby showers, birthdays, etc.). When I called the next day, a lady named Katie didn’t return my call as promised. Instead, she “generously” suggested me search the trash can (after I sent a follow-up email). I find it concerning that a business would assume personal items left behind are "disposable" and irresponsibly offer a suggestion like that - a Trash Can Search Offer (i.e. This Trash Can is ours, dive in and help yourself). Shouldn’t the Trash Can search responsibility lie with the staff who misplaced it? Given my experience, I would strongly recommend considering ASI for a gymnastics party instead, as they are significantly cleaner and far better organized. Unfortunately, they were already booked for my desired date, which is why I chose WOGA; however, this turned out to be a huge disappointment. I’ve hosted birthday parties for my kids over the past few years, and this was, by far, the worst experience.

We joined WOGA’s parent/child class a few months ago and have been so happy with the little’s progress. She’s following directions better and gets braver with every class. We needed an outlet for her climbing and morning energy and WOGA is just the place for that!
