I enjoyed taking French classes (for adults; she also offers kids classes) with Madame Maggie. She made learning fun and encouraged us to try things and to make mistakes so that could learn correct grammar and pronunciations. Homework assignments were very manageable. I enjoyed learning in a light and fun environment

Maggie is a kind and inspiring teacher and wellspring of creativity. In her introductory drawing class (Learning how to See!) we were given tools to slow down, release artistic inhibition, practice hand-eye coordination, and really look at the world we were putting to paper. Maggie is a fun and helpful instructor and invites student’s interests over rigid structure.

To take a drawing class at Wingspan feels like stepping into a studio where curiosity is mandatory. Maggie teaches like a free spirit—guiding rather than directing, nudging toward discovery instead of answers. Her critiques were unexpected, honest, and strangely perfect. The class reminded me that art is supposed to be alive! Maggie's teaching style felt less like instruction and more like an invitation—to see differently, to slow down, and to see the shapes in everything! She teaches with openness, encouraging risk, experimentation, and intention. Maggie is a generous spirit and deeply respectful of each student's voice. As a Christmas gift to my own home, I purchased "Jewel of Flowers." This painting feels intimate and expressive, more about emotion than botanical accuracy. Rather than presenting flowers as precious objects, this piece feels like a moment—a summer bouquet on a table, painted quickly before the light changes. It has that Vermont-in-summer feeling: fresh, slightly wild, and deeply human - just like Maggie. Elle est la meilleure de toutes!

Wingspan was a great environment to expose my bilingual son to more French. Maggie spoke the right level of French to engage my 4 year old son, while also engaging the new-to-French students. There were songs, activities, and of course art! My son loved it. Highly recommend for anyone wanting some French exposure!

I love Wingspan Studio! The Creative Director, Maggie Standley, is one of the most amazing teachers I've ever had. Both the French and Art classes were superb and fascinating. As an educator to children and adults, Maggie is fantastic to work with and learn from. She is incredibly professional, experienced, and intelligent. The studio space on Howard St. is so lovely and inspiring! Also, Maggie is an incredible artist. Both her abstract and more representational work is a beautiful asset to any space. Likewise, I have seen Maggie's mural work and faux finishing work, which has transformed buildings and homes into works of art. Highly recommend!
