Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp

My 9-year old son was at Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp for 3 weeks this Summer, and he had the time of his life. He had counselors from all over the world, who had so much to share about their culture. Additionally, the fact that the camp doesn’t allow electronics made my son enjoy more outdoor activities, and promoted his creativity. He made many friends every week he stayed there. He was an overnight camper, and that alone was quite the experience. He had to be responsible and take care of himself for 3 weeks. I was very proud of him, and I am very thankful for 4-H Camp for providing such amazing opportunities and life experiences.

Fundraisers, Auctions, etc. to allow disadvantaged children to go to Day Camp for a week. They have so much to offer. Zip lining, horseback riding, swimming lessons, kayaking, snacks, and lunch are provided.

How have I not reviewed this place yet? What have I been doing? Okay, so my kids have went to camp here for a few years now. This is the kind of camp you dreamed about when you were growing up. Picture hundreds of kids, out in the woods together, no phones, no tablets, just enjoying being creative and having fun together. That's what 4-H Camp is. My kids always have a blast here. Eat tons of camp food, swim the days away, explore the woods, just constantly busy with fun. My kids have mostly done day camp...my daughter did try overnight camp the year before, but was maybe a bit too young for it. I guess it would depend on the kid - if you have a pretty independent seven-year-old, it could be such a great experience to do overnight. If not, then day camp is just as great. I bet next year both my kids will be ready to try the overnight camp. I'm told they have late-night dance parties and eat tons of ice cream and just do all the things kids should be doing in the middle of summer. The staff is awesome, so kind, so friendly, and they totally know their stuff. If you call them up and tell them you want to check the place out, I'm sure they'll take good care of you and show you what they're about. Totally recommended to anyone looking to give their kids a taste of 'real' summer.

Oh man, what a great place! Good friends of mine had their wedding there and it was a whole weekend of fun! The camp had nice cabins, surprisingly clean bathrooms (full service bathrooms by the cabins too, not outhouses; and they all had showers & hot water). The beautiful wood cabin multipurpose building was huge, clean, and had a very well equipped kitchen with nice cooking equipment, huge walk-in refrigerator/ freezers, and lots of stoves, ovens, and other cooking appliances. The building also had a big, lovely porch with rocking chairs, and nice, well stocked, clean bathrooms. In the downstairs (basement level, as the building is single story) there was a nice big game room with game tables and additional clean, well stocked bathrooms. The grounds were well maintained with easy-to-walk-on paths that were well marked so finding your cabin and / or bathroom at night was easy, a nice big area for tent camping, a volleyball court, a lovely picnic area (where the wedding we attended was held), and a nice big fire pit. You can take a nice hike/walk and still be on the property so it's safe, and along the way there's a big teeter-tot (I think that's what it's called; like a huge see-saw, but people stand as opposed to sitting, and multiple adults or kids can be on it at once). The whole place was just totally perfect for the event I attended and the grounds had beautiful scenery. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE if you want to hold an outdoorsy, camp-like event.
