Wilderness Works is an Atlanta nonprofit that runs free outdoor and experiential programs for homeless, at-risk and economically disadvantaged children ages 8 to 18. Its summer camp sends children for week-long stays at traditional camps in North Georgia and western North Carolina; other programs include City Camp (a 20-hour chaperoned overnight with three meals, followed by a Saturday field trip), Mini Camp and field trips such as hiking Cumberland Island and whitewater rafting. All programs and trips are free for students and families. The organization has operated since 1997.
