Whiskeytown Environmental School (WES) is a public outdoor-education school run by the Shasta County Office of Education within Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, serving K-6 students since 1970 with hiking, swimming, crafts, and nature study. Alongside school-year outdoor-science programs it offers week-long summer day camps. The traditional 5-day overnight program has been offline since the 2018 Carr Fire; daytime programs reopened in 2021.
