The Waukee Family YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, runs a summer day camp for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade in Waukee, Iowa. Camps build skills and friendships around achievement, belonging, and relationships, and families can sign up for one week or the whole summer. Financial assistance is available so no child is turned away for inability to pay.

★Ben FeltesIf you're a parent and considering getting a membership here because of the pool and family swim and daycare don't bother. They almost always have a wait for either one of those. If you're not going for those reasons you run into the same problem, horrible hours forces everyone in during the limited time they are actually open causing every piece of equipment to be occupied thus forcing you to stand around and wait. Regardless they are all too happy to keep signing people up shoving even more people into the queue. I guarantee this will be a waste of your $100+ a month for a family of 3
★★J APrice to quality of weight equipment is poor. For the price they charge monthly, the weight room equipment is really poor (benches with missing seat cushions lol, barbells with loss hand friction, machines with cushion rips, etc). From other review comments I ca read, this seems to be a shared observation. Plus it is always busy, hoping commercial gym competition strengthens in the waukee area!
★Drew GoughThe facilities are not very well kept. Much of the gymnasium equipment is often broken and not addressed for multiple weeks on end. Everything looks very worn and very used. On top of this, the space isn’t utilized to maximize the amount of equipment provided for the amount of members. For the price point of $70/mo this doesn’t make it worth it for me. On top of this, if you don’t cancel 15 days before the end of the month, then you have to pay that next month’s membership fee. Very nickle/dimey and scummy business practices.

★★★Dave DonahueFacility, equipment, and pool are perfectly fine. However the internet connection is embarrassingly slow and incapable of handling all of their members. If you plan to use Spotify, stream workouts or Netflix on an iPad, etc. I would NOT recommend the Waukee Y as you will be frustrated and disappointed. On the best days when it’s less busy, it’s possible to connect slowly to basic apps, on most days the network won’t allow you to connect at all (see photo). The Y is also oversold and its often hard to get on a treadmill. If they fixed their internet speed and capacity, and added a few treadmills, my rating would be an easy 5 stars.
