5th year campers drop off. Always a highlight for the kids summer

Walton's is truly an incredible place for children of any age. The environment is inclusive to anyone regardless of outside factors. Inside the grounds, everyone is a community. My family has been going here for decades past, and everything still is beautiful. The central lake and woods are gorgeous, the campfire is wholesome, and the counselors are generally supportive. Overall, Walton's is still a major part of family summer we look forwards to.

The BEST summer camp!!! Walton’s is truly the highlight of my children’s whole year! I went here as a kid and now my kids have been going here for many summers and I couldn’t be happier. They offer SO many amazing activities. Everyone can find something they’re interested in and try lots of new things. It’s always fun to hear what my kids tried that year. Their recent favorites have been water trampoline on a hot day, archeology, ceramics, wood working, horseback riding, and ropes course. And of course campfire and skits! The location is incredible and immediately makes you feel like you’re in a classic summer camp movie. What really makes the camp so special is the staff. The Walton’s family has been running it for generation and you can feel their warmth and kind energy as soon as you enter camp. They are especially good at including every camper and helping with any first time jitters or homesickness. My younger son was a little hesitant to start and they took him under their wing and made him feel right at home. He now can’t wait to go back every year and is a very proud camper! My daughter also couldn’t love Walton’s more and has made wonderful friends that she is still in touch with from home. Thank you SOOO much for all you do, Walton’s Grizzly Lodge!! See you next summer! Anya

I attended Walton’s as a child for several summers—over 30 years ago now—and I STILL carry incredible memories from those days. It truly is a magical place. I’m beyond excited that my daughter will be attending for the first time next summer! Walton’s is unlike any other camp: so many fun and diverse activities, amazing counselors, and an atmosphere filled with love, inclusivity, and belonging. The best moments of my childhood were spent in those woods, and I can’t wait for my daughter to experience the same joy. It’s a very, very special place.

My sons favorite part of summer every year is his 2-weeks spent in Portola,CA at Walton’s. Kids get to choose multiple activities daily including typical horseback riding, archery, photography, pottery; as well as stand-up paddle boarding and water skiing on their private lake. There are options to have your child fly into the Reno airport and be picked up by camp staff or drop off at the site about 1-hour north of Truckee, CA.
