Sierra Nevada Journeys runs a week-long overnight summer camp at its 515-acre Grizzly Creek Ranch near Portola (about 50 minutes north of Truckee) for youth ages 8-18. Campers stay Sunday through Friday in heated cabins and take part in kayaking, hiking, high ropes, archery, and campfires, building confidence, teamwork, and leadership. The nonprofit emphasizes access for low-income youth alongside its school-year outdoor-science programs.

What a fun time for the kids to learn and have some time outside of school amongst their peer group.

My kids just came back from summer camp at #sierranevadajourneys, they absolutely loved their time there. They enjoyed the activities, the environment and the food. Their facilities are top notch, the counselors were great too, Amazing overall experience… we are coming back next year…110% recommended.

(Went may 14-16, this is not my real name.) This was super fun. My instructor was Mark, aka baddie, it was super fun and I would go again

I came here and had a blast. Our instructor JJ was really nice and kind. It's a fun place to talk to people you don't know and communicate more and have a good experience. I recommend coming here if you are bored or interested.

-CHILD WROTE THIS- Instructor: Hailey Had so much fun, Hailey had tons of games for us to play and the cabins were super cozy. The cabins do not have showers, you take showers in your color’s AC (activity center) which has two showers and a bathroom PER STALL there is two. Heavily recommend from a child who went there themselves.
