The American Suzuki Institute, hosted by UW-Stevens Point's Aber Suzuki Center, is a family-oriented Suzuki-method summer music program founded in 1971 and the longest-running Suzuki institute outside Japan. It offers week-long July sessions with classes in violin, viola, cello, voice, piano, harp, chamber music, and Suzuki early childhood education. Students age 13 and older may stay in campus residence halls, while younger students typically attend with family.

Had lessons with Dr Suzuki and Ms Aber and countless others that I still remember to this day. I made a stop here with my kids for a couple days over the summer to visit and show them what I used to be a part of, and they both came away wanting to start Suzuki and Cello study. I wasn’t really targeting that to happen, but it was an interesting development and goes to show just how much energy comes from being in the UWSP Suzuki environment as a summer destination!
