Jai has always been naturally flexible — tumbling, splits, movement came easy to her from a young age. Cheer started as a way to keep her active and help her build focus, especially navigating day-to-day life with ADHD. When COVID hit, everything paused. Later, she tried school cheer, but it just wasn’t the right environment for her. Like a lot of girls experience, it could be catty, and she wasn’t enjoying it. I still wanted her to stay active and rebuild the skills she had lost, so we gave Allstar cheer a chance. At first, it was just that — a chance. But over time, something changed. The girls became friends. The team became a sisterhood. And Jai found her place again. So no, cheer may not seem “necessary” to everyone. But what she’s gained from it is. Confidence. Friendships. Discipline. Focus. Growth. A sense of belonging. That matters. I’m so proud of everything she has accomplished this year.
