Powered by GoogleI joined The Wellness Center in September of 2025 and had one of the most frustrating billing experiences I’ve ever dealt with. Their billing was inconsistent from the start, with double charges, and they did not call, email, or otherwise contact me directly when payments failed. Instead, they quietly let charges stack for months without any real‑time communication. Despite me not using the facility, they continued charging my account every month and then quickly sent the accumulated balance to collections in the following December. Keep in mind, they charged me for December's membership fee while simultaneously sending the balance the same month. The lack of transparency is unacceptable, especially when they never provided an itemized breakdown or notified me personally of issues until long after the fact. To make matters worse, canceling a membership is made intentionally difficult. They don’t allow you to cancel in person or by phone--you’re forced to use a Facebook page, which is unprofessional and creates unnecessary barriers. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and customer‑unfriendly. I would strongly recommend anyone considering this gym to pay close attention to their billing and be prepared for a lack of communication.
We are sharing this experience to inform others and to give this wellness center in Johnson City, TN an opportunity to address a serious concern regarding their policies and communication. At the time of enrollment in their swimming program, we were not clearly informed of any strict “90-day policy” affecting attendance or expiration. During the program, we encountered a significant medical emergency—my wife was hospitalized during childbirth, and we tragically lost our son. We communicated that we would be unable to attend due to hospital-related circumstances. Unfortunately, we received no response. After a period of grieving, we reached back out to resume communication. At that point, we were informed—apparently for the first time—that the 90-day period had expired and that no accommodations or resolutions would be offered. This raises concerns regarding: Lack of clear disclosure of material policies at the time of purchase Failure to respond to client communication during a documented hardship Refusal to provide any reasonable accommodation under extraordinary circumstances While we understand that businesses operate under policies, there is also an expectation of good faith, transparency, and basic human consideration. We are requesting that management review this situation and contact us directly to resolve this matter appropriately. If not addressed, we will consider escalating this concern through additional consumer protection channels. We encourage prospective clients to request full written disclosure of all policies before committing.
The Wellness Center in Johnson City is fantastic. There’s a great variety of classes, so you never feel bored and can always try something new. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The facility has tons of amenities, making it easy to get a full workout or relax afterward. One of the biggest perks is the childcare, which makes it so convenient for families. Overall, it’s a great place to stay active and motivated.
Stopped in for the day when I was in town for the weekend. A day pass is $15, but isn't bad for everything you get. It is a clean gym with everything you need. The views from the equipment and the pool are gorgeous. Plenty of equipment, free weight area is a bit small, the pool and hot tub are really nice and there is a nice size sauna in the locker room.
Great place to work out alone, join classes or whatever works for you. Generally very clean. VERY nice staff. Ron toured us around and we signed right up after touring the other places in the area. This was cleaner and more updated equipment. No brainer.
