National Society of Black Engineers

The Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) is a free three-week summer STEM programme run by the National Society of Black Engineers for rising 4th–6th graders, aimed at students who would otherwise have limited access to engineering education. Campers build hands-on engineering projects with mentors and practising engineers; accepted students must attend all three weeks and miss no more than two days, and a parent or guardian must attend an orientation. Admission is by application reviewed on a rolling basis rather than first-come registration, with a waiting list. For 2026 the programme offers a virtual option plus in-person camps in Houston, Texas and Washington, DC.

One of the strongest aspects of the program was its hands-on approach to learning. Instead of focusing only on theory, the curriculum emphasized real-world projects that helped students apply concepts in meaningful ways. Topics such as web development, software engineering, databases, and modern programming frameworks were covered in a structured and accessible manner.

Code Nijas is great. My kiddo has been learning coding through games. I love the flexibility of the scheduling.

Major fan of this place for kids of all ages! Both my daughter and son have participated in the programs and have really benefited from the experience. The winner is really the Sensei's (coaches). They are super patient and helpful. They know the names of the kids and really understand their goals and what they are shooting to achieve. My son has been enrolled since 5 or so and it works for younger and older. Definitely check out this location. Owners are actively engaged and keep new programming coming for kids. Everything from AI to Minecraft to Gaming to Robotics. The St James of kids stem programming! Check this one out.

We recently celebrated my son’s 10th birthday at Code Ninjas, and it was fantastic from start to finish! All 12 kids had an absolute blast—there wasn’t a single moment of boredom. The Code Senseis were amazing: patient, enthusiastic, and totally unfazed by the constant stream of kid questions. They even jumped in to help serve pizza and cupcakes like total pros. Everything was organized and smooth, which made things so much easier for me—the lone parent brave (or crazy?) enough to stay while all the other parents got a much-needed break until pickup at 5. Honestly, I think I earned my honorary Sensei badge just for keeping up with the energy in the room—but the real credit goes to the Code Ninjas team. My son had the best time, and his friends are still talking about it. Highly recommend for a fun, unique, and well-run party experience!

What a wonderful play for kids gamers and coding lovers if I may say. This review has 3 main points : the place over whole, coding, and gaming XPLeague 1) overall The place is very clean, large, and comfortable.I love the decor. There is a designated waiting room with even an area where little one can play legos on a table. Everybody is extremely nice, patient, and courteous. The programs are extremely varied so your kid will enjoy trying familiar as much as unfamiliar topics. They have fun themes every week so you have to be either very picky or spoiled rotten not to appreciate all the work done there. 2) Coding Coding is an excellent way for kids to learn more about computers then just the gaming aspect. The program is progressive and kids earn their « belts » as they complete projects. They accumulate also raffle tickets at the end of each project, which for the younger crowd is an excitement in itself. Kids take breaks and during that time they can enjoy drawing on boards, playing board games or just chill. 3) XPLeague If you have a kid or teen who loves gaming, you should consider joining the E-sport teams in Alexandria or Falls Church. My son is into the Fortnite League and loves it. He loves the whole concept of it. He also is excited to meet new teammates. It is a great way for them to socialize, be team player and graceful looser or winner. Conclusion : I love that place
