The faculty is made up of gifted professional artists who are dedicated to sharing their vast experiences and knowledge with others. All people interested in art are welcome from beginners to accomplished artists. Many types of art experiences are available. I have attended these classes for years and I continue to learn about new techniques, art supplies, new artists, and art shows.
I have been a student at this school for the past 10 years, taking a variety of paintings classes in different mediums. Every teacher that I have worked with has been a professional artist with years of experience and commitment to teaching. They have been patient guides for me at every step, with deliberate instruction and individual feedback. The classes are a pleasure, with congenial students and a very comfortable vibe...despite the varied levels of ability. Some of the students are professional artists in their own right, which contributes immensely to my learning experience. This school and all the instructors have been a treasure for me !
Whether you wish to pursue studio art as a hobby or as something more serious, I recommend The Studio School. The teachers are award winning artists, qualified instructors and welcoming to all ages and levels of experience. I began studying watercolor painting eight years ago at the Studio School and today am showing and selling my work in exhibitions and galleries. Thanks Studio School for enriching so many lives!
I have been taking classes at The Studio School for several years. I have studied with Vera, Tracey, Robin and Jane. All are excellent teachers and accomplished, award-winning artists. Most of my classes are in painting with acrylic with Vera Dickerson. I could not appreciate her any more if I tried. She is talented, thoughtful, giving and encouraging. I have literally never spent a day with her in which I did not learn at least one new thing. Considering how long I have been taking from her, that is saying quite a bit. Classes change quarterly so lots of variety is available from all the teachers. There is no other place in the New River Valley that covers the world of painting in assorted mediums any better than The Studio School! Special events like an outdoor art show, indoor exhibitions and even art trips to far flung locations are offered. All of this and warm, welcome and supporting teachers, too! What more could you want?
