Stax Music Academy runs a Summer Music Experience, a four-week day program in Memphis for students in grades 6–12 that immerses them in ensemble performance, songwriting, music history and business, choreography, and audio engineering. Operated by the nonprofit Soulsville Foundation on the site of the historic Stax Records, it culminates in live performances; placement auditions are required.

Powered by GoogleI loved this school when my nephew was attending there. They have an excellent program that helps the kids with music education, different genres of music, the philosophy of music and most of they are able to showcase their talents.
Friendly staff. Some cool things to see. I enjoyed SUN studios more. Buy your ticket at the visitor center and save some money on your admission. That goes for Graceland and cival rights museum
I haven't had the opportunity to stop by and pay them a visit yet..but my son graduated from "Soulsville Academy" 2 years ago next door from the Stax Music Academy! I'll check'it out soon..I promise!
The facility is not as big as I expected to be, but it was a nice walk through nonetheless. A lot of the artist that walked through Stax Records I grew up and listening to their music and some I had never heard of. It was really cool to see the studio and the sound equipment that helped put the songs of the past together. Seeing the actual Academy Award given to Isaac Hays and his personal Cadillac was awesome. The record wall was also unbelievable so many big artist came out of such a small building with big records. I would recommend this tour while in Memphis.
it is okay but does it help achieve the musical goal for many of their students and scholars
