Shady Creek Outdoor Education Foundation is the nonprofit, founded in 1990, that supports the Sutter County outdoor education program at the Shady Creek site in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Nevada City. The site runs residential and day outdoor-school programs for grades 1-6, with school groups arriving Monday and leaving Friday, and hosts nearly 5,000 students a year; it also runs summer and day camps and rents to retreats and reunions. Classes cover environmental science, nature study and team building. The outdoor school itself is operated by the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools and booked through schools.
