Seattle United has potential, but our overall experience has been disappointing. The organization seems well-intentioned, yet communication and organization often fall short. Practices are sometimes canceled or changed last minute without clear notice, and the level of coaching varies widely between teams. Some coaches are dedicated and engaging, while others appear disengaged or unprepared, leaving players confused or unmotivated. For the cost of participation, I expected a more consistent and professional program. My child enjoys playing soccer and has made friends, but the development and structure we were hoping for just aren’t there. With better communication, more accountability, and consistent coaching standards, Seattle United could be a great club — but as it stands, it feels a bit unorganized and not quite worth the investment.

We have been really happy with this club and the coaching. Our son is starting his second year with United and Coach Sena and we are so impressed with the growth our son has had as a player in such a short period of time. We have found Coach Sena to be extremely knowledgeable and dependable. He is always calm, never yells or raises his voice. Sena is a very solid coach and not only has our son dramatically improved as a player, but their whole team has shown tremendous growth. It’s also been a really fun program to be a part of, highly recommend.

We had two games with this team this year, the first game the Coach for Seattle United not only cursed and yelled at the referee but also the kids as well. They also had a parent who ran half way onto the field during the game. After the game my son was crying and said he was scared. When I reported the behavior to the club, they assured me that the situation would be handled. Fast forward to the next game and that Coach is still there, still has the same attitude, etc. Hold your staff accountable and create a safe environment for the kids. 9 year olds shouldn't be scared by a coach during the games and when that behavior is reported the club should take it serious.

My daughter played for SU from 2016-20 and in only one of her 4 years did she have a good head coach. Over the next three years, she had two coaches; one who completely lacked in tactical coaching ability, motivational skills and the ability to adapt in-game situationally; while obviously having knowledge of the game, this person simply shouldn’t have been a coach. Another who purported to be an excellent coach with top notch credentials but failed miserably in getting the most out of a talented team, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. the over-arching theme was that SU coaching failed to prepare my daughter’s teams for set pieces, failed to teach offensive tactics of really any kind, and the result was that her team often failed to score at all whenever faced with a decent defensive team or decent keeper. Some games while playing against even shoddy keepers, we failed to score through obvious fault of coaching- not the girls lack of effort or skill. Countless games, perhaps 80% or more, her team dominated the ball, but ended up tying or losing at least half those matches. 1-0 was a very common defeat, despite utter dominance in the midfield and a strong defensive back/keeper. The girls just weren’t equipped to challenge the opposing keeper with any consistency. I watched countless practices and they never practiced getting shots off when covered around the 18 line, they never practiced corner kicks, never practiced passing in tight quarters while covered around the goal. In practice, they simply only shot on goal with offensive players uncovered, a situation that rarely occurs in a game. There clearly was no guidance from leadership to improve because the coaching drills, tactics philosophy never changed over those final 3 years. As though playing .500 soccer scoring less than a goal per match was acceptable. Only one season did the team do better than that and that was purely due to the talent of the girls, not the coaching. My daughter enjoyed the camaraderie, travel and playing in general in spite of the above shortcomings. But to pay 1,600 + per year and get such sub standard coaching is certainly disappointing. Now I know Seattle United has good coaches; my daughter played up on Tango a few times, where she experienced superior coaching. It’s a shame that doesn’t apply to all levels. We've had an awesome, very supportive experience with SU. From coaches to administration. Our daughter tore her ACL about a year ago and SU has gone above and beyond with her recovery process. A trainer was available to her to get her back to game ready. Fees were prorated until she could practice again.
