★★★★★ChiharuWe currently have two teenagers playing club soccer: one with the Vikings and the other with one of the clubs that include "Unite" in its name. In comparing our experiences, the Vikings come out ahead in most categories. Specifically, we appreciate that the Vikings have no hidden costs and offer greater flexibility for families. For example, we are not required to pay for a tournament unless our child actually participates. (The other club won't give you credit if your child doesn't play in the tournament that the rest of the team played in. One year we were on a pre-planned vacation in mid August and another year, our child was sick. We had to pay over $400 each time to have our child play in the team's 2nd tournament.) The Vikings tournament fee is a third of the cost for a tournament. Furthermore, the Vikings provide several extra opportunities at no additional cost (ex: free summer practices for competitive) and truly seem to care about the kids. I feel that the other club makes decisions about teams that are best for the club and not for the individual players/families; other families from that club have also expressed the same. The Vikings are also a great club if your child prefers to play on a team that doesn't get split up every year and instead moves up together as a team (unlike the other club). The one area that we weren't pleased with the Vikings initially was the coaches, but that was in Rec. Our child's experience with coaches in competitive has been great (Rado, Majdi, Jim). So if you're considering the Vikings for competitive soccer, you might just want to ask about the communication and coaching style of the particular coach who your child has been assigned to. As for the other club, we have had both good and bad coaches in competitive (it's been ~ 50:50).
