Very fun place! You can take classes to do pottery or choose plain pottery pieces to paint. They have a good selection of pieces to select from. I went with 2 friends to a paint a Christmas plate event. Outside the Box went above and beyond. They made Christmas cookies and had festive punch. Kim and Carmen are awesome. The only slight negative I can come up with is there’s not much parking.

My mom, kid and I took a wheel pottery class here today. It was absolutely the best! I wanted to sit down and do more. Carmen was so great with the kids that were taking the class and adults. She went around to everyone and helped and gave such great instructions. I can't wait to go back for open class times. We are already talking about going for the wine and pottery night in September. We went back today to paint all of our projects! Can't wait to go back in a week and see how they turned out!

Outside the Box Art Studio is such a hidden gem and has quickly become one of my favorite creative spots in Dayton. I first went there on Valentine’s Day for a pottery wheel class, and it was such a fun and memorable experience. The instructors made it really easy to follow along, even as a complete beginner, and they were patient, encouraging, and genuinely excited to help everyone learn. It felt hands-on without being intimidating, which made the class even more enjoyable. I enjoyed it so much that I went back a second time to try something different—I bought a ceramic piece and painted it. That experience was just as fun and relaxing. The studio has a very welcoming vibe where you can sit, take your time, and just let your creativity flow. Whether you’re artistic or not, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable experimenting. What makes it even better is the staff. They’re incredibly friendly, always willing to answer questions, and create such a positive environment. Overall, Outside the Box is a perfect spot to hang out with friends, go on a date, or even just enjoy some solo time being creative. I can’t wait to go back!
