Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp is the overnight youth camp of the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg, on a 144-acre lakefront site (Tsala Apopka Lake) in Floral City, about 60 miles north of Tampa. Boys and girls ages 7–15 stay in rustic cabins and take part in swimming, archery, canoeing, arts and crafts and recreational sports alongside daily Mass and team-building rooted in the Catholic faith. It draws over 500 campers each summer and often keeps waiting lists.

Most reviews are 5 stars and it's not because of the room service or cold a/c although the past 3 years they have a brand new community hall/cafeteria that's air conditioned. The reason we/I give it 5 stars is because it's an awesome place for kids to be kids. The Catholic part of the camp is awesome and prayer is done throughout the day with daily Mass but it's not a bible camp. If you come here your life will be changed. I'd love a camp with gourmet food, indoor pool, horseback riding, and maid service but then it's not camping, its glamping. This is a true, old Florida Catholic youth camp. I'd 100% recommend this place. It is NOT low energy, this place is alive with excellent water activities as it's right on a huge lake. It has a huge pool, archery, rifelry, daily Mass, and much much more. Every year my son leaves happy with a million stories to tell on the way hope before he passes out. He spent 2 full summers here but we started with the one week session then a 2 week session the next year. He then went 2 years for the whole summer but now baseball gets in the way of full summers so he goes the last 2 sessions of the summer. Bottom line is if you want a most excellent and exciting camp, at a price that most everyone can afford with discounts for multiple family members, this this is the camp for you. If you are or are not Catholic, this is the camp for you. If your kid has been stressed with too much adult pressure then this place allows them to be a kid. All kids get homesick but this camp truly helps with that. Counselors are all past campers who then became kitchen staff before becoming counselors. There is a live in nurse, a full time year round caretakers who go to my local church and are great people as will has Father Johnson who lives at the camp during the summer. This place is safe and welcoming. Do not hesitate to send your kids here, boys and girls. Look at the photos of these kids and you'll see they are HAPPY! GCC is awesome
