Open Air Village
Private
Open Air Village is a nature-based daycare and preschool on Antioch College's historic campus in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where children learn through play in an outdoor 'open-air' classroom with walking field trips around the village. It emphasizes nature education, diversity, and community with a family feel; it operates primarily as a year-round childcare/preschool rather than a distinct summer camp.

Powered by GoogleOpen Air Village has been a great Pre School choice for our child. This has been his first experience with childcare outside of the home and we couldn’t have asked for anything more! He is eager to go to school and always comes home with stories of what they did that day. We have noticed his growth and maturity at home from the structure and discussions that the teachers have with the children. We would highly recommend Open Air Village to any family looking for more of the nature aspect to early childhood.
So many good things to say about this school! Truly a diamond in the rough. Our 3-year-old has been attending for almost one year, three days per week. We’ve been at two other daycares, and Open Air is by far the highest quality we’ve seen. All of their staff is so patient, caring, and nurturing. Definitely the gold standard for high quality and experienced caregivers. Their teaching philosophy is centered around child led play. We weren’t sure what this would entail exactly, but we notice all the time that our daughter picks up a ton of soft skills, such as kindness, manners, and emotional intelligence. Finally, unlike other schools we’ve attended, they really go above and beyond by getting the kids outdoors as much as they can. They have a great policy about providing the appropriate clothing for all weather conditions, especially chilly and muddy days! We were nervous about this too but have noticed that the leadership always makes the appropriate decision on how much to go outside. Usually it’s a lot, and our daughter loves it! It makes me smile when I show up and I can tell she has been playing in the sandbox or making mud castles with her friends!
We love Open Air Village! My son loves all of his teachers and is so excited to go to school in the morning. I am very selective about who I trust with my kids, and I feel confident that my son has nothing but the best care at Open Air Village.
OAV is amazing! The teachers are caring, the environment is wonderful, and it’s been the perfect place for my toddler to learn and grow:)
