My daughters have been going to this gym for 11 years. I can’t begin to describe what incredible coaching they have both received over the years. Coach Jasmine has coached my youngest daughter for the past 9 years. She has instilled in her values and dedication that will last her a lifetime. She has guided her in the most supportive and positive way. She truly has a gift of seeing these gymnasts strengths and being able to drive them into greatness. I know as a parent you want to read the reviews to see where you can entrust your child to. New Wave is a gym that I would recommend again and again. If you want your child to gain skills and integrity not only on the gym floor but in life this is the place to be.

I am very disappointed with our recent experience. My daughter was removed from the squad after dealing with a knee injury that required medical clearance. She followed the proper steps, saw a doctor, and was cleared to return. After that, I was informed about outstanding fees, which I was prepared to handle. What concerns me most is not the fees, but the professionalism and treatment of the athletes. It is inappropriate for a coach to speak negatively about children in front of other athletes. No child should feel singled out or uncomfortable in what is supposed to be a supportive team environment. There also appears to be tension toward athletes associated with another coach’s squad, which creates an unnecessary divide among the girls. As paying customers, parents expect fairness, respect, and positive leadership for our children. I hope the organization takes steps to improve communication and ensure all athletes are treated equally and professionally.

If you are considering New Wave Gymnastics in Melbourne, please be aware that our experience with Coach Jasmine has been extremely unprofessional, and it escalated to her threatening to call the police over a simple parent concern. My daughter has attended New Wave since 2nd grade, joined the team in 4th grade, and is now in 7th grade, so this review is coming from a long-term family. Over the past several months, we’ve dealt with ongoing issues involving communication, payment clarity, and inconsistent treatment of our child. After my daughter was extremely sore from conditioning, Coach Jasmine required her to be cleared by a doctor twice before returning. She was cleared by two different doctors with no limitations, and also passed her middle school sports physical for track, yet the issue was still treated as if she wasn’t cleared. Our daughter has also been made to sit outside the training area while other athletes practiced. When asked why, the owner stated, “it depends on who I talk to,” which is concerning because policies should be consistent. The final straw was Coach Jasmine threatening police involvement instead of handling the situation professionally. That is not how paying families should be treated.

My daughter has been going to New Wave for a few years now. I love that the coaches are encouraging and supportive but also help each athlete meet their potential in a structured environment. New Wave has lots of classes to chose from. We started in a beginner class once a week and have moved up to one of the competitive teams. Highly recommend ⭐️
