Mile High Little League

I called to simply get clarification on what league to register my son for because online there are two options: Minor Coach/Machine Pitch and Minor Player Pitch. This would be my son’s first time ever playing little league so I didn’t know which one to choose. I give my rating a one star because I didn’t like the way the conversation went. It started off great with questions pertaining to where I live, my son’s age and birthday, etc. But then the president of the Mile High Little League asked me what I do for a living. That kind of threw me off guard. My question is why does that matter? I have registered my son all over the city in Track and Field, Swimming, Basketball, Breakdance, MMA, and piano. Not once have I ever been asked that. If I’m calling to register my son, then that means I have a way to pay for it. And then, the president asked me if dad was around and in the home and what he does for a living. Again, what does this have to do with registering my son with little league? I have never had to answer questions like this in any other sport I have ever registered my son in. It’s irrelevant. And yeah unfortunately I have to throw out the race card, because it’s low key racist. It’s stereotypical to always ask a black woman “where the father is”. As much as my son plays sports, I have never been asked that and that completely rubbed me the wrong way. Needless to say, I hung up the phone and deleted the email. And if you’re wondering what the president of Mile high little league stated as his response as to why he asked me that, his excuse was that this league is strictly volunteer and he likes to know what parents do in order to help out the team. Yeah right! He said, because the team might need help with something electrical or something hahaha. Laughable at best. I’m glad I called first though because I would have hated to register my son and then deal with racist bullshit throughout the season.

Field is located on Juan Tabo north of Lomas. No concessions are available and the bathrooms are porta potties. Fields need some work and the tumble weeds to be cleaned up off entrance and fence. Other than that, it’s a baseball field.

So much family history at this beautiful ball field. The committed volunteers of MH led a major renovation that made this such an incredible touchstone for families! Stop in to have the best burgers in town at Christie’s Snack Bar located in the yellow building at MH. Our neighborhood is so proud of MH!

MHLL is awesome! As a new board member, with an insider perspective, I am amazed at the dedication of my fellow board members. Their heart for kids and their love for the game is made evident in the countless hours organizing teams and players, maintaining facilities, coaching, scorekeeping and much more. I can't speak for other leagues but we are happy to be at Mile High!
