Hi all. This is my 17th season as a Basketball Coach in this organization. I’ve held this in long enough and it’s time to say something. Years ago I went on a 76 game winning streak with 6 championships! We won for Almost 4 years straight! My daughter always got racially profiled and talked about during that time while getting cheated we still would win. She’s very tall! Right now she stands 6’3” 205 @13yrs old. Anyways I come back with my younger daughter we win our first game. 2nd game the ref called everything on my team. Then I tried to address a call he made but he ignored me. Then he stops the game and tell me to calm and and recognize him before starting the game. And I didn’t and I did not say anything because he didn’t acknowledge when I tried to talk to him. So since I didn’t he kicks me out the game. My kids faught back but had a lot of unnecessary points taken back from the ref. We loss by 2 points. I guess he was trying to make a statement. ALL IVE GIVEN TO THIS ORGANIZATION AND THE KIDS to make the kids feel like they were cheated is ludicrous to me! I think I may be done with this organization. The racism has to stop.!

Great league for youngsters to start your kids in sports teaching them basics of sports. Gene and his wife are great and really care about the youth in this league and do a great job.

Signed my son up for baseball for the first time ever and they couldn’t find a coach had them miss practices then they FINALLY found a coach and then couldn’t find fields for them to practice on so cancelled more practices!!! Ohh and good luck EVER hearing back from the athletic director!!! Beyond disorganized DO NOT USE THEM FOR AZ CLUB PREP (the city uses them for the baseball program)!!!!

Unfortunately it is time for us to find another league. Our son has been here for many seasons for soccer, football, and basketball and it seems to get worse every season. One pro is that it’s a low cost league but keep in mind that you get what you pay for. We haven’t had issues with delayed games or anything like that which is good. As for the cons, it’s all volunteer coaches and the league never seems to have enough these days so it ends up being a parent who volunteers at the last minute. The coaching is hit or miss, sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s terrible. The refs don’t do a great job at enforcing the rules. And yes I understand that not every rule can be enforced every time with the younger age groups, but they seem to not really be too interested in enforcing much at all which leads results in chaos and not much value for the players. Every team has to find its own practice spot which proves difficult in the summer when practicing outside isn’t ideal. Indoor practice spots usually charge a fee so then the parents are forking out more money to practice on top of registration fees. It’s just kind of a mess, we are going to check out National Youth Sports next season or maybe transition to club sports leagues. Was fun while it lasted.

I signed my daughter up for the basketball league offered & it was a nice learning experience. We liked the low cost enrollment fee. My daughter made some new friends on her team & her coach was very accommodating to the participating families. We looked forward to practices & games, as a family. Although, we did have some trouble w/the team photo portions at the end of the season. I guess there was some trouble w/the photographer hired & they never fulfilled the orders. I didn't receive word on it for weeks until I reached out myself. I never received my refund because I couldn't locate my receipt at the time & there was no record kept of all the families that paid for photos to be taken, apparently. The fee was a little over $40. So I didn't really think it was worth making a fuss over. It wasn't Mesa Youth Sports fault, afterall. Overall, my family & I's experience w/Mesa Youth Sports was a great one I'd say. I'd recommend them to any family. Update: My experience was from back in 2018.
