Camp MASS MoCA is a week-long art camp on the museum's campus in North Adams, where campers explore the galleries and grounds, meet exhibiting artists, and make original work tied to current exhibitions. The 2026 weeks run August 3-21, Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm, with separate camps for grades 2-5 and grades 6-9 covering cardboard sculpture and installation, movement and spoken-word performance, and animation and projection. Each week culminates in an installation or public sharing for families and museum visitors. One full scholarship per camp week is available by lottery to students from North Adams, North Berkshire, Hoosac Valley and Pittsfield schools; campers bring their own lunch and a daily snack is included.

I think I discovered I'm not a huge fan of contemporary art but with that said if you're in the north adams area the museum is not to be missed. It sounds like they have some fun outdoor entertainment in the summer which sounds really fun.

The spaces between galleries are full of dramatic industrial architecture. Through the museum are signs telling the viewer about the history of that part of the museum or what you can see outside. The cafe has tasty beverages and a relaxed sunny cafe vibe.

There are couple coffee places in the museum. Kids space is separate on the second floor, and it offers workshops and craft station for all. During winter, outdoor exhibitions are closed.

Our favorite exhibit by far was the Jeffrey Gibson exhibit. As a gay man, the prominent placement of an indigenous queer artist was validating and very welcome. Admission was very reasonable for the size of the museum and the quality of the exhibits. Would highly recommend a visit!
