Powered by GoogleLove this gym and all the facilities. My family has been going consistently since we moved to Nashville a few years ago. They recently upgraded the machines in the gym which was appreciated. I’ve paid 3x for gyms with older equipment. They have great quality machines here. I also like how clean everything is. The gym and all areas tend to be spotless. My family loves the outdoor pool. Can’t wait each year for it to be open after Memorial Day! The staff are always helpful and friendly and Y play’s childcare facilities are such a huge cherry on top. Ms Thelma is the sweetest and is always kind to my kids.
YMCA “Family Center” — Misleading Hours & Poor Front Desk Support This place advertises itself as a Family Center, but the actual experience feels like a bait & switch. Child (play area) watch hours are extremely limited, half the week it is 9 AM to 12 Noon, which already doesn’t work for anyone with a typical 9–5 job. What makes it worse is that I visited on a Friday and was told, essentially, that if those hours don’t work, my family could “look for service somewhere else.” Here’s the part that really stands out: The employee handling sign-ups didn’t seem to understand the services he was supposed to be selling. Instead of helping, he leaned into the confusion and actively discouraged me from continuing my family membership if I didn’t like the hours. Only later did I find out (on my own, online) that there are additional child watch hours Monday–Thursday from 4–7 PM—something that was never mentioned to me in person. Even a basic explanation of that would have made a big difference, but it wasn’t offered. So not only are the family services limited, they’re also poorly communicated, even by staff responsible for sign-ups. That’s a big problem for both customers and the organization itself. Bottom line: If you work normal hours, paying extra for a child membership likely isn’t worth it. And if this is going to be called a “Family Center,” then both the services and the staff communication need to reflect that.
This place as in all the gyms are not great. This location I dislike for many reasons like, the facility itself is outdated. It is always overcrowded in the sauna and the whole place in general. They claim to be Christian but don’t mess with their money for real. They make it difficult to cancel by making you go in and if you can’t well better for them they keep charging you. I couldn’t get there before the 1st again this month went in on the first and they refused to cancel and refund me so here they are STEALING MY MONEY again this month!!!! There are so many other options save yourself the hassle of this place!!!!!!
This is my local home gym and I couldn't be more pleased with the facility and many options to enjoy and challenge your training. I've personally worked for YMCA's growing up and I have to say this facility offers just about anything a large LA or Lifetime Fitness would offer.
The Margaret Maddox YMCA is the best Y that I have ever seen! The facility is extremely clean, the staff is very polite and knowledgeable about their Y, and it's really cool that there are obvious places for people to sit and fellowship with one another. The back of the property is more like a park than anything. Great place to work on one's Mind, Body, and Spirit.
