We have been with Carolyn since my daughter was 4 years-old (she’s now 9.) We live in Manoa, so of course it was extremely convenient to go to Manoa Marketplace! We tried 3 teachers at age 4, but Carolyn was the best! She really connects with the children, makes it fun, and allows them to play music that interests, where they can express themselves (if not for this, my daughter may have quit piano long ago.) Lessons were fun (vital for 4 years-old), and she is patient and loving. She goes above and beyond to make occasions like Halloween and Christmas fun for the kiddos, and my daughter has won awards in state piano competitions over the last year. Carolyn now has a beautiful multi-room music school at her home in Aina Haina with a recital hall and outdoor waiting area with a view (nice for parents while they wait!) She has become like family, and I attribute my daughter’s passion and joy for piano to Carolyn and her heart and care.

even with the craziest imagination, you can never really call this place at school, it’s complete unorganized joke. The owner Carol is completely unaware of what’s going on, we signed our child up for one semester and prepaid, the first issue we had is the teachers just seem to make their own schedule on go on vacation without telling their students, thinking that it’s a “school.” They would have some sort of administrator to oversee the scheduling, but that is nonexistent, most lessons are 15 to 20 minutes late. The overall environment is creepy and uncomfortable with 70s artwork on the wall and dirty chairs in the waiting room, the studios are not soundproof so you’re hearing everyone else’s practice all at once not a very good environment for learning, voice or music. As I mentioned, we paid for a full semester, and then her teacher had hip surgery, then had to cancel, then could not accommodate our student student for the rest of the
