Powered by GoogleI've been a member for a very long time and have been very happy. However, their recent choice to both play loud music on the PA while having a class in the individual work out spaces with different loud music and looks instruction has destroyed my affinity for the organization. Even with noise cancelling headphones (which are now a necessity) the environment is bad for audio health and peace of mind. I've asked them to turn things down with the class and PA and it's gotten louder.
It takes a lot for me to leave a one-star review, but here we are. First, Ethan D. at the Plymouth location gets 5 stars. He’s an excellent trainer and knows how to get results. My frustration is with membership services (Susan) and the pricing structure. I added my daughter to my membership while she’s living in St. Paul for school, and I understand that certain LTF clubs require an upgraded membership. I may not love that policy, but I understand it. What doesn’t make sense is that I have to upgrade my own membership for a club I will literally never use, just so she can access the Highland Park location. Instead of simply charging an additional fee for her access, the structure requires upgrading the entire membership. That turns into an extra $40 per month for one person to use one local club on top of her membership fee. For a metro-area location, that feels excessive and unnecessarily greedy. What made the experience worse was the confusing communication I received while trying to resolve it. During one conversation with Susan, I was told an email had been sent, then that it hadn’t been sent because it was forgotten, then that it had been sent but couldn’t be located, but that there had been no previous correspondence at all. It was frustrating. Her sidedness at the end of the call was funny. Does LTF train them to be this way? Reading the other reviews I’m thinking maybe so. Policies are policies even when they are greedy, but customer service and common sense still matter.
Highly recommend Madison Scholder as a trainer. I took off a few years from the gym, became a mom and now creeping into my 40s. I was nervous about getting back into the gym. Madison made me feel welcome at the Plymouth gym. She was the perfect fit for me. She listens, encourages, and also knows how to give you a little kick in the butt to push yourself! She supports you and lets you know what you're doing good at and what to work on/tweak. She does a very good job at guiding you through the workouts. Does an excellent job of giving you subtle adjustments to perfect your form. Push from your heels, shoulders back, remember to breathe etc. She was also good at working with your schedule to make the training sessions. She was easy to reach when I had any questions or needed rescheduling. Thanks to Madison I have gained my confidence again in the gym. She helped me work my way back to the racks for my squats & deadlifts which are my favorite lifts! I'm so happy that I had Madison to help me get back into it and had so much fun doing it!
I visited this location twice while in town, arriving shortly after opening both days. I don’t think I’d choose to go back. It seems wiping down equipment and putting away plates are not common practice here. In my photo 4 separate machine can be seen loaded with plates. Not a single one of those was in use at the time. Benches had other people’s body oil on them 🤮 There was also a group of 5 or 6 young men wandering around with a large video camera. When I went to the Cafe on my way out, which had just opened, the young lady there included a long hair with my shake (which she took way too long to make). It was trapped between the top of the cup and the lid. I only noticed this after consuming half of my drink. This location may look nicer after their current renovations are complete, but it’s harder to change the quality of the people.
They have very cheap shaving cream and body lotion. Both creams are thick but don’t feel good at all. The shaving razors are terrible—they always cause cuts, no matter how carefully you shave. It seems like they don’t want customers to use their products. Hardly anyone does, and with the prices they charge, the quality of these products is completely unjustified. In fact, they could even cause health issues.
